TEXTCADE

Privacy Policy

Effective August 25, 2026

Textcade is an indie game. It is free to play and supported by ads and optional purchases. We collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and this page names every service that handles it.

Accounts

When you first launch Textcade, an anonymous account is created automatically so your progress can be backed up. It contains no personal information — just a random identifier.

You can optionally connect Sign in with Apple to keep your progress across devices. We request no name and no email address from Apple — only the anonymous Apple identifier used to recognize your account.

What we store

This data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, on servers in the United States. It is used to save and restore your game progress and to honor your purchases.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how Textcade is played: which games are started, how runs end, which offers are shown, which purchases complete, and how the notification feature is used (for example whether permission was granted and whether a notification was opened). Events carry a random install identifier and the app's build number. They never carry your name, your email address, or the contents of your messages, and we turn off PostHog's location lookup, so your events are not resolved to a city or a country. PostHog stores this data in the United States.

This website

Everything above is about the Textcade app. This section is about playtextcade.com, the page you are reading now.

The site records which page you opened, which link brought you here, and whether you started the demo or joined the launch list. It uses the same PostHog account as the app, with the same location lookup turned off. The site sets no cookies. What it keeps is held by your browser for the one visit and is gone when you close the tab.

When we post about Textcade on social media, the link in that post can carry a short code. If you arrive with one, the site records it so we can tell which post brought people to the page. The code identifies the post, never you, and it is not kept after the visit.

If you join the launch list, your email address is delivered to a private Discord channel our team reads. The website itself stores no copy. We use the address once, on launch day. Reply to that message and we will remove you.

The page also carries the Meta and TikTok advertising pixels. They are switched off today and load nothing at all — no script, no cookie and no request. If we turn them on for a campaign, this page will say so first. Your email address is never given to them.

Feedback you send us

If you use the feedback form inside the app, we receive the message you type along with your app version, your iOS version, your device model (for example iPhone17,1, a model name and not a unique device identifier), and your random install identifier. We use it to reproduce and fix what you reported.

Feedback is stored with Supabase and is also delivered to our team through a private Discord channel, which means the message text, the device model and the install identifier are passed to Discord. Please don't put anything in the box you wouldn't want us to read.

Playing with other people

Two parts of Textcade involve someone else, and each handles data differently.

Live head-to-head uses Apple's Game Center to sign you in and to find and connect you to an opponent. Your Game Center identity is held by Apple and handled under Apple's privacy policy. Matches run device-to-device through Game Center — Textcade operates no match server and never sees the play as it happens.

Challenges in Messages. A challenge you send carries your in-game player name, which game it is and its settings, your score, and an identifier that lets a reply be matched to the challenge it answers. It travels inside the message you send, to the people you send it to. Textcade does not read your conversations, does not receive them, and cannot see who is in them — the Messages app hands us only the one challenge being played.

Advertising

Textcade shows ads from Google AdMob, including rewarded ads you can choose to watch for an in-game bonus. To serve and measure those ads, AdMob may collect data such as your IP address, device information, and how you interact with an ad, under Google's privacy policy.

Textcade never shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and never asks for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Because we never ask, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available to our ad partner.

Campaign measurement

When Textcade is advertised, Apple's privacy-preserving measurement tells us and the advertising network whether a campaign led to installs, in aggregate: SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit conversion postbacks, and — for Apple Ads — an attribution token from Apple's AdServices framework. These signals are provided by Apple, carry no user identity, and reach us without any third-party attribution software in the app.

Notifications

Textcade's notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. Textcade does not register a push token with Apple's notification service and does not send notification scheduling data to any Textcade server. Ordinary Textcade analytics may record interactions with the notification feature, such as permission results and notification opens. You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings → Textcade → Notifications.

What we don't do

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Account → Delete account & data). This immediately and permanently removes your account and all server-side progress. Progress saved locally on your device is kept unless you delete the app. Analytics events already recorded are tied to a random install identifier, not to your name or email; contact us via the support page if you want them removed.

Children

Textcade does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Accounts are anonymous by default and no personal details are required to play.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
